Thermaltake G4-VGA CoolMod The neon bulb, that is the essence of the CoolMod, is embedded in the clear plastic cover over the top of the cooler. Its positioning here should allow it to not only light things in the immediate area but also allow the light to be reflected through the clear top. Flipping the sink over showed a reasonably clean base. No imperfections were perceivable to the touch but this is most definitely no shaver that you can read off the reflection. The memory sinks that came with the G4-VGA CoolMod seemed pretty much useless in my opinion. This because the base of the memory sinks are not flush across. The piece is 54mm long but 16mm on each side are slightly elevated. The distance is correct to put on a VGA card's memory but it leaves a lot of the RAM's surface uncovered. If this memory was the BGA type, the sinks would fit just fine; unfortunately it is not though. We opted for the Tweakmonster sinks as we mentioned earlier. Look at how clean the base is. Now that's a shaver! Installation Installing the VGA CoolMod was no more difficult than pushing the sinks retention pins down and through the PCB of the card. The Tweakmonster RAMsinks were attached via a dab of Arctic Silver Alumina Thermal Bond. Note that the CoolMod has two power lines coming off of it. One for the neon and one for the fan. You think the two could have been combined.
