Thermaltake XTunner Radio Controlled Rheobus

Conclusion

Overall, I was impressed with the XTunner.  This specific unit has found a home in one of our test beds for good reason.  If you change your fan speed several times during a single sitting in front of your machine, you will appreciate and enjoy the XTunner.  You will appreciate it even more if your box is under a desk out of easy reach.

We did have one concern and one suggestion for the XTunner.  Our lone concern is that the speed control is on the remote only.  If you lose the remote, you pretty much can toss the XTunner unit out the window as there are no speed controls on the device itself.  Putting an up and down control button on the unit would solve this.  A second improvement would be the ability to change the speed of each fan.  Making the XTunner a four channel controller would increase its appeal several times over.  Both of these two points I think are fairly blatant and I expect to see them addressed in the future.  Thermaltake's Xaser line of cases traditionally has come with a fan controller in the topmost bay as standard equipment.  It would not surprise me to see the XTunner with the improvements we just mentioned, appear as the included fan controller on future Xaser cases.  This is of course only speculation on my part.

The XTunner unit as it is gets the job done while adding convenience to the user.  If you are looking for something interesting along the lines of a new fan controller, this is it.  You will not be disappointed with the unit in your own machine.  We can therefore happily recommend the Tt XTunner device as a nice upgrade for most anyone.

Pros

  • Allows fan speed adjustment from low to high at your fingertips.

  • Tasteful styling

  • Very good construction quality

  • Very original thinking went into the design.  As Thermaltake says; the 'n' is for iNnovation.

Cons

  • No speed controls on the XTunner unit itself; so don't lose that remote.

  • Fan control is all or nothing.  No individual fan adjustments.
